School Lunches
School meals in East Sussex are provided by Chartwells. The cost of a meal will be £2.20 from April 2022. A vegetarian option is always available. Jacket potatoes with various fillings are available to order every day. Bread is made fresh for the children to have with their meal and a glass of milk is also provided at no extra cost. Fresh chilled water is also available.
If parents would like to pay dinner money for the whole week, this can be sent in cash at the beginning of the week in an envelope clearly marked with your child's name and class, or many parents now find it more convenient to use our ParentPay system.
Marina has asked that parents inform us of any special dietary needs or food allergies your child may have.
Our kitchen has been awarded a Food Hygiene rating of 5 which is the highest score possible.
Congratulations to Marina, our cook, who received an Integrity Award from Chartwells in recognition of her dedication, passion and hard work!
Lunch Menu
So what's for lunch? Click on the menu above to find out. Marina also has special menus to celebrate different events throughout the year. For example, a special menu was available to celebrate Chinese New Year and pancakes were available for dessert on Shrove Tuesday.
Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to receive a free lunch every day. These meals are known as Universal Infant Free School Meals.
Some children are eligible for Free School Meals throughout their school life. If your child is eligible (see guidance below) it’s important that you let the school know as soon as possible at the beginning of the school year. Apply now and it will mean that when your child moves on to KS2 he/she will continue to receive FSM.
It’s extra funding for school too. Schools receive valuable extra funding based on the number of children who have applied and are eligible for FSM. This funding makes a real difference to the school’s budget as it enhances the learning opportunities provided in the school to make sure children get the best start in life.
You will need to be in receipt of one of the following benefits:
• Income support
• Income-based jobseekers allowance
• Income-related Employment & Support Allowance
• Child Tax Credit (if you have a gross income of no more than £16,190).
