ART

The children have been experimenting with colour mixing in Art. They have thought about the colours they have created and given them inventive names such as 'Mermaids Tail' and 'Lilac Wave.' This colour experiment is leading up to an exciting project... watch this space!

PYJAMA DAY

We came to school in our pujamas on Friday 3rd February in support of the RSPCA. As a school we raised nearly £400!

SCIENCE

Year 4 have been taking part in an experiment to show how our body digests food.

[You might not want to read this before having your lunch!]

First we placed a slice of bread into a plastic bag and sealed it tightly.

Next we broke the bread up to show how our incisors bite into the food.

Then we used our fingers to soften the bread to see what the bread would look like after it had been chewed by our  molars.

The saliva in our mouths adds enzymes to soften the food ready to swallow. We added water to simulate saliva.

Mixed together we could see what our food looks like before we swallow it.

To show the role of the large intestine we cut a small hole in the bag and drained away the liquid. The large intestine absorbs the water our body needs from the food we eat.

And finally...the liquid left behind.

PC MARIA

Year 4 were lucky enough to receive a visit from PC Maria, the School's Liaison Officer. She answered lots of questions from the children including 'How well do you know the law?', 'Do you enjoy being a police officer?' and 'How are police dogs used?'

Mrs Coekin had first hand experience of being handcuffed by PC Maria!
