WEEK BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 17TH

All about Me

We will be learning about what makes us special and how we change as we get older. We will be looking at the story of Funny Bones by Allan Ahlberg

WEEK BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 24TH

Special People

We will be talking about the people we live with and how important special people are to us. We will be looking at the story of Owl Babies by Martin Wadell.

WEEK BEGINNING OCTOBER 1ST

Autumn

To link with the celebration of Harvest Festival, we shall be looking at the season of Autumn, and exploring our local environment. We shall be reading the story ‘Stanleys Stick’ by John Hegley.

WEEK BEGINNING OCTOBER 8TH

My Pets

We will be learning about all our different pets during our pet week. If you would like to bring a pet to school this week, please let us know. (Sorry – no dogs.) We will be using the books Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell and The Great Pet Sale by Mike InkPen

WEEK BEGINNING OCTOBER 15TH

The last week of term sees a whole school focus on World War 1 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the end of this war.  We shall be covering the topic with the Reception children in very simple terms and at a level that they can access and understand.

IN ADDITION

English Focus :

Hearing rhymes and patterns in words; counting syllables; hearing sounds in words, including initial sounds; beginning to link sounds to letters; and oral blending and segmenting.

Maths Focus: 

Counting in rote; counting a set of objects accurately; recognising numerals and linking them to an amount; and recognising and naming shapes in the environment.
