Table Tennis

A group of Year 6 pupils (Nathan, Zachary, Martyn, Charlie F, Freya and Lewis) took part in a table tennis competition at St Leonards Academy last week. While they did not make it through to the knock-out stages, all involved played very well, each winning at least one of their games. Pupils also had to keep their own scores and all played honestly. Well done to everyone involved!

Sportshall Athletics

Well done to Zachary and Charlie L. in Year 6 who represented the school last week at the Sportshall Athletics event. They had qualified previously, and this stage took place at Summerfields Leisure centre where they competed against a number of other local schools. The children took part in a number of indoor activities including speed bounce, ball throw, standing long jump and relays. They did really well, coming 2nd place in a number of activities, although we are still awaiting news of the overall position of the team.

Badminton

Congratulations to the team that represented the school last Sunday. They won 9:5 against Pebsham - well done! Thanks to the support from families and staff.

SPORTING SUCCESS IN TERM 4

Badminton

A team from Guestling represented the school against West St Leonards Primary Academy. The team tried hard but unfortunately lost 9-5. Well tried the team of Zack (Y6), Henry, Isabelle (Y5), and Henry, Clark, Rubi-Lee, Ava (Y4) and thanks to their families for their support.

Raquet skills at Horntye

A group of Y3/4 children took part in a racket skills event at Horntye. They practised team working as well as learning different skills and techniques in badminton, tennis and table tennis.

SPORTING SUCCESS IN TERM 5

Badminton

Well done to Sam (Y5) who won the U11 boys singles event and was part of the winning pair in the U11 boys doubles at the Hastings Badminton Tournament.

Football

Well done to our girls football team who took part in a tournament in Bexhill. Unfortunately they did not win any of their matches, but this was the first time they had played together and we look forward to following their progress in any future events.

Golf

A group of Y3/4 pupils took part in a Tri-Golf tournament at the Cooden Beach Golf Club. Children were taught how to chip and putt the golf balls and had a series of point scoring activities – lots of fun!

Well done to all those who took part in the recent tournaments. The Cricket team came 3rd among the local schools who participated. Two teams took part in the Hockey tournament with 16 local schools. One team came 3rd overall and the other came 3rd in the group stage.

SPORTING SUCCESS IN TERM 6

Congratulations to the team of Charlie, Zack, Martyn (Y6), Jennifer, Seth, Sam (Y5) and Clark (Y4) who took part in a recent badminton tournament beating Silverdale Primary Academy and narrowly losing to the Shuttlers team. Thanks also for all the family support at the event.

Well done to all the children who took part in the Tag Rugby tournament and Oliver Curd Football tournament.

Our Y6 girls Orienteering team did well at the recent tournament, beating many of the boys’ teams from other schools.

Year 5 - Quick Cricket Tournament at Horntye. Last Friday, Finlay, Bonnie, Freddie, Samuel, Poppy-May, Oliver, Henry and Summer took part. They played with great determination and came third out of five schools. They were a credit
to themselves and the school. Well done.
